Warped Tour 2012: Thank you and goodnight…

By August 10, 20122 Comments

So we’re back in Blighty and happy to see blue skies and sunshine! The last few days were a mixture of absolute excitement to return and sadness about leaving the Warped Tour and all our new friends.

The Mighty Adrian

Our day off after a 9 day stint of gigs was so unbelievably needed and God knows what possessed us to think about walking to what looked like a close by mountain to climb it. After an hour of walking along a highway my body starts to tell me I’m supposed to be relaxing ready for another two full hard days of dancing. I say I cannot go on (completely unlike me) and the boys leave me to go to a vintage gun fair whilst I lie under a tree only to awake from a deep sleep when they arrive back a couple of hours later. I cannot believe how tired I am!

Fire!

We had a great End of the World Party BBQ organized by our friend Michael Camino who arranged for us, ‘Onward etc’ and ‘Larry and his Flask’ to play. We had an absolutely fantastic night and were blown away by our friends all joining in for John Kanaka – great times.

Larry and his Flask tear it up in Skinny shirts!

Then the foam machine came out and nearly killed us. Now I know why I never went to one as an adolescent! Terrible! I returned home later than everyone else as a drowned rat – totally forgetting that this was a good bye party. One more day to go with an almighty hangover. I cry more than once (not at all like me – honest) as friend’s bands play and decide the best thing to do is make a short sharp exit. We head back to the tour bus, pack up our belongings and have a last beer sat in a warm parking lot. Off to a hotel and deep sleep…

End of the World BBQ party

It has been an amazing experience and we want to thank everyone who we met and Kevin Lyman for inviting us to play. It’s only when we got there did we realise how lucky we were. So many bands follow the festival around not even getting a gig. Cheers to every wonderful person we met and there are many. Let’s stay in touch – no doubt we’ll be back to share a drink or two with you again soon.

In the meantime – watch out UK! We’re back with a vengance. Festibelly and Bestival are coming up fast and I for one am very much looking forward to doing it English style again – woo-hoo!

Foolin around with the Side One Dummy boys
