Master Shipwright’s Revelry and Folk Newington

I was so mad we couldn’t stay longer at Master Shipwrights Revelry last night! It was already turning into an epic Sunday night but the Skinnies had to get off for our second gig of the eve in Stoke Newington.

Master Shipwright's Revelry begins

Before we left we had a wonderful time playing around the fire with some old friends in the yard of the ancient house where the event was being held. We were then shown to a shack (‘Crane House’) where we all stood in the bottom of a kind of pit, while as many people as physically possible cramed themselves in to watch, sing along and dance if they dared on the rickety platforms that surrounded us. What fun. I wish we could have stayed all night. I hope they do it again soon.

Folk Newington was next and we were treated to some wonderful music by the other acts and also entertained in between acts by the amazing Dave Elvis, a 67 year old Elvis impersonator… It had to be seen to be believed. I was jealous of his cape. I wonder if I can get away with having a folk cape? I’m going to investigate…
